People with diabetes who drink water have more cooperative blood glucose
Many people with diabetes have heard: drink more water, blood glucose stabilizes!
Water does indeed have a “diluting” effect on blood glucose—when the body is dehydrated, blood becomes concentrated and blood glucose concentration is more likely to rise.
But, do you really know how to drink water?
How much? What to drink? When to drink? There is a lot of subtlety here!
How much to drink each day?
The Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents recommend daily water intake of 1500–1700 milliliters.
。
Diabetic patients with normal cardiac and renal function can appropriately increase to about 2000 milliliters.
⚠️ Note: It is not recommended to exceed 3000 milliliters; excessive water intake can instead increase the burden on the body!

What kind of water is best to drink?
✅
、
✅ Warm boiled water, natural mineral water, and light tea are all good choices.
Sugary drinks and fruit juice must be avoided!
For example, tea is rich in tea polyphenols, potassium, selenium, and other nutrients; drinking it in moderation can both hydrate and promote metabolism~
⏰ When to drink?
Remember "small amounts frequently" — don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink!
1️⃣
1️⃣ After getting up: a glass of warm water on an empty stomach to dilute the blood and help stabilize blood glucose.
2️⃣
2️⃣ Between meals: replenish fluids at appropriate times to maintain body fluid balance.
3️⃣
3️⃣ When blood glucose is high: drinking more water helps promote urination and glucose excretion, preventing dehydration.
4️⃣
4️⃣ After exercise: replenish fluids appropriately; sugar-free electrolyte drinks are an option.
These are times to drink less!
❌
❌ Drinking large amounts immediately during or after meals: affects digestion and can indirectly cause blood glucose fluctuations. It is recommended to drink half an hour after meals.
❌ Before bed or at night: frequent nighttime urination disrupts sleep and may indicate poor blood glucose control; timely monitoring and adjustment of the regimen are required.
For elders who don't like to drink water:
⏱️
⏱️ Set a small alarm to remind yourself to drink in intervals, sip slowly in small amounts, keeping the body continuously hydrated~
✨ Water is the source of life and a natural "blood-glucose stabilizer" for people with diabetes.
